About Utility Hoists

Utility hoists come in a variety of formats and with varying designs to suit specific tasks. Utility hoists are typically used by utility companies such as electricity and gas, water and waste areas. Infrastructure utilities can also be included such as rail networks.

The hoists used in these areas have very specific specifications and undergo rigorous testing to comply with the relevant safety regulations.

Although not essentially limited in this genre of hoists we have also included a battery powered hoist, an arctic hoist and some corrosion resistant devices which can often be used in similar circumstances.

Types of Utility Hoists

Typical utility hoists are usually either a lever hoist or a chain block/hoist and are designed for specific areas and tasks.

Rail approved Lever Hoists

Lifting Hoists Direct can offer a couple of rail network approved ratchet lever hoists including the Tiger PROLH lever hoist, overhead line lever hoist and Yale utility lever hoist.

These hoists are designed for overhead line tasks and/or rail lifting and alignment applications. Some are for use with the Ironman rail handling system.

Although the specifications ensures they are fit for these uses they may also be used for other more standard types of lifting scenarios, always be guided by the manufacturers instructions.

Refer to each product above to find out all the specifics.

Arctic Hoists

This new collection of Arctic hoists include a chain block and a lever hoist which are certified to be safely used in temperatures down to a freezing -40 degrees C. These products are from Yale and are based on their tried, tested and trusted UNO plus A series ever hoist and the Yalelift 360 chain block with modified components and lubricants to ensure they are suitable for these extreme conditions.

Battery Hoists

We currently offer one battery operated electric type hoist, the CM battery Star. It has working load limits up to 1000kg and is supplied with a wireless remote control. Battery charger and additional batteries are available separately. (batteries compatible with many Milwaukee tools for extra convenience.

Adaptor Hoists

Our collection of adaptor hoists include a ratchet hoist and a chain block. There is a choice of adaptors which can be fitted to the bottom block in order to fit to specific anchor points and/or attach specific loads. The adaptors can be used as a suspension point and or for load fitting/lifting. Clevis shackle, self locking safety hook, reevable egg master link and sling hooks are the options.

Corrosion Resistant Hoists

These hoists have additional protection against corrosion to make them useable in more challenging conditions. Zinc coatings and Delta-protekt KL 100 processes are used for optimum durability. We have the Yale 360 chain block and trolley option in this genre.

Standard Hoisting

The majority of the hoists above are based on a standard hoist of the same/similar model but with upgrades.

Please take a look at our extensive collections of chain blocks and ratchet lever hoists where you will find many more hoisting options with all the relevant specifications and information.
