Lifting Gantry Cranes Available
You may hear the term A-frame gantry/crane; this refers to the same type of small lifting crane, as does mobile lifting gantry.
Mobile (with castors) or static options (with plated feet for floor bolting) are available with our standard lifting gantry cranes. They come in a good selection of sizes with lifting capacities of 500kg, 1 tonne, 2 tonne, 3 tonne & 5 tonne. The height under the top beam comes in 3, 4.5 or 5 metres (not all available for each size). 3, 4 or 5 metre working spans are our standard options.
All the precise data can be found in the specifications on each size/SWL.
Alongside these standardised specifications you can also choose manual or powered hoists and/or trolleys to add to this package.
Custom Lifting Gantry Options
If none of the above mentioned standard lifting gantry sizes are suitable for your needs, fear not! We have a super team of fabricators with many years of gantry manufacturing experience who can build a custom gantry to your specifications. There is one stipulation!, it needs to to be under the maximum 5 metres under beam height and have a maximum working span of, or less than 6 metres.
It is a good idea to discuss your needs with us either by email or a phone call to ensure your safe working load limits can be met for the size you require. In addition to physical size and SWL there are a number of other options to consider. If you are to be using powered hoist and trolley systems you may wish to consider having electric components installed to the gantry during manufacture. Isolators, knockout switches, plugs and even catenary and festoon systems can be added.
One of the fundamental choices to make is do you wish to add castors or plated feet. If you choose plated feet the gantry can be bolted to the floor for a semi-permanent lifting crane option. If you opt for the castors your gantry will be able to move around to the location where you have loads that need lifting. Two of the castors will be braked as standard to help prevent unwanted movement. All 4 can be braked for optimum safety on request.
It is important to note that this type of lifting crane should not be moved around whilst under load.
Parking jacks are commonly opted for on these gantry cranes, this is because even flooring is imperative for stability but this is not typical in the areas where this type of crane is commonly used. Parking jacks are fitted to the end of each leg, near the castors. Each can be individually wound up and down to equalise the levels at each corner until the crane stands perfectly level, when it does, you will have optimum stability when lifting your loads.
A-Frame Gantry Set up
We deliver our a-frame gantry systems in 3 main parts; these consist of two 'A' shaped side legs and the top loading beam. They are easy enough to bolt securely together, however two or more people will be required as will a forklift truck to raise the top beam so the a frame legs can be positioned underneath and bolted on. We can help with setting up the gantry when delivered at an additional cost should you prefer this option. Get in touch for costs.
Depending on how you have chosen to customise your gantry there are a couple of things to bear in mind.
-
Ensure castors are braked and parking jacks secured before putting the crane together.
-
If electric trolleys and/or hoists are to be used we recommend installing to the top beam before lifting into position. (not essential but saves the heavy /physical effort later.)
-
The bolts should be tightened to a specific torque for optimum security. M12 bolts to 70Nm; M16 bolts to 175Nm; M20 bolts to 341Nm and M24 bolts to 590Nm.
Other Lifting Frameworks
If our mobile A-frame lifting gantry systems are not quite right for your lifting requirements then you may want to take a look at our customisable Jib cranes which come with many options and boasts a swing/rotating jib arm so loads can be moved around within the radius of the arm movement as well as across the length of the beam.
We have many types of beam trolleys and manual or electric hoisting systems to compliment your crane should you need those options too.
