About the Sub Sea Lever Hoist – Tiger UL26 Brake System
The Tiger UL26 lever hoist boasts a newly designed dual brake set up for ultimate safety. The hoist incorporates the standard brake system with a quad pawl and ratchet design, which in itself provides excellent safety because if 1 or 2 pawls fail there are another two to hold the load. Add to that the new independent, self acting brake system which deploys on the load sheave and you get a ratchet lever hoist with probably unrivalled safety.
The new brake set up is known as the self acting safety system or SASS; it has been well tested and certified, passing all relevant safety standards.
If you would like to find out more about the safety standards met, the new system or the hoist in general then see our information guides above, in which you will also find detailed specifications.
More UL26 Ratchet Hoist Details
Although this hoist can be used in many areas, its main focus of use is the sub sea and marine environments. The hoist is suitable for fully immersing thanks to a plethora of components and specifications. Obviously the briny conditions can be very corrosive so a standard hoist would quickly fail. Tiger uses specific components with optimum corrosion resistant properties such as phosphor bronze bearings, superior (environmentally friendly) grease, bonded marine friction brake discs, full gasket brake cover and many stainless steel components. The UL26 ratchet hoist also has a two stage paint finish combining electroplating for the base coat and a powder coated top coat which has a sandy texture and is very hard wearing to provide corrosion and impact protection.
The hoist has many other features including a fluted chain stripper to precisely guide the chain on or off the load sheave; an adjustable chain end stop to prevent the chain going too far; one piece pinion gears; freewheeling mode, RFID tracker system, a new pinion shaft design and multi fall load sheave bearings.
All these details and more can be viewed in the download guide above.
