Cobra 1 Leg G80 Chain Sling Specifics
All grade 80 components meet the necessary working load requirements (BS EN 818-2 & BS EN 1677-1.2/3), whereas grade 8 fully conforms with inspection certification 3.1.
Just like all chain slings, when angles and different hitch types come into play there may need to be some form of working load limit reduction. Always refer to the manufacturers slinging guide – we have attached one in the documentation above.
Configuring your Cobra Single Leg Sling
When configuring a chain sling it is imperative to match the components to the chain in terms of size and WLL. You don’t ned to worry about this though, we will do it for you. Simply choose your chain size, paying attention to the diameter and WLL and decide what length you are likely to require. Anything up to 10 metres is possible. Now choose your components for the loading end of the chain. (the top end will automatically have a master-link for easy anchoring).
Component Options;
- Standard sling hook – clevis fitting
- self locking hook – clevis fitting
- Swivel self locking hook – eye type
- Open C hook – clevis type
- Shortening hooks – eye type.
Eye type fittings are permanent whereas clevis fittings can be removed with the benefit of being able to change them for a more suitable fitting if required.
Sling hooks and self locking hooks all have some form or safety latch/closing device to ensure the load stays attached. ‘C’ type hooks are open and designed for a quick connection where safety catches are not required.
Lastly the shortening hooks are attached into the master-link and can be safely used to shorten the length of chain by simply hooking into a chain link.
